Assam Eviction Drive: Govt Clears Nearly 1.5 Lakh Bighas of Encroached Land, Vows Protection for Indigenous People

PC: Assam CM

Guwahati: The hon'ble CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma slammed the Congress party over the appeasement policy with minorities. In his social hanadles, he stated that the policy of the Congress has been to appease minorities and turn foreigners into citizens. Assam has not forgotten how, in the past, the Congress facilitated the settlement of foreigners, thereby posing a serious threat to the existence and identity of the indigenous people. At one time, such incidents frequently made headlines in newspapers.

He furtehr added, in contrast, the present government is firmly committed to protecting the rights, security, and identity of the indigenous people of Assam. The promise once made by our government—to carry out eviction drives against illegal encroachers and ensure protection for the indigenous population—has now become a reality.

So far, the government has cleared nearly one and a half lakh bighas of land from illegal encroachment. Moreover, we remain committed to continuing these efforts in the future to safeguard the interests and security of the people of Assam.
