The recognition is part of a special issue celebrating early-career researchers whose work has shown outstanding impact and strong potential to influence the future of chemical engineering. Dr. Chakma’s multidisciplinary research bridges chemical engineering, materials science, and environmental chemistry, with a focus on sustainable energy technologies, greener water purification methods, and advanced electrochemical processes.
Reacting to the honour, Dr. Chakma shared on social media,
“It is always special when your work is recognized, especially by the American Chemical Society. This recognition would not have been possible without the mentors, collaborators, colleagues, and, of course, my research team members.”
The achievement highlights IISER Bhopal’s growing contribution to globally relevant research and places Indian chemical engineering research firmly on the international map. The ACS Rising Stars recognition is considered a significant milestone for early-career scientists, acknowledging both research excellence and future leadership potential in the field.
The special issue was published by ACS Publications in December 2025 and features select researchers from around the world working on cutting-edge areas of chemical engineering.
