US Offers $10 Million Reward for Information on Iran’s Supreme Leader, Sparks Global Concern

Washington DC: The United States Department of State has drawn sharp criticism after announcing a reward of up to $10 million for information about Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran’s newly installed Supreme Leader and son of the late Ali Khamenei. The announcement was made through the government’s Rewards for Justice programme, which typically targets individuals accused of terrorism or posing security threats to the United States.

In a banner posted on social media platform X, the State Department appealed for information on what it described as “Iranian terrorist leaders,” including Mojtaba Khamenei and other senior officials. The poster stated that individuals who provide credible intelligence could receive a reward of up to $10 million and may also qualify for relocation assistance.

However, the move has triggered criticism from international observers and analysts who say the public bounty on a sitting leader of a sovereign nation could further escalate tensions between the United States and Iran.
